Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson shared her experience of a complicated pregnancy due to twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). TTTS affects 10-15% of identical twins who share a placenta, and can have serious consequences. Nelson, who gave birth to twins Ocean Jade and Story Monroe in May, voiced her concern and fear during her pregnancy, as she was constantly worried about the health of her twins. TTTS is caused by abnormal connecting blood vessels in the placenta which leads to an imbalanced blood flow from one twin to the other. Treatments can include using a laser to burn away the problematic blood vessels in the placenta. Nelson has been open about her journey, shedding light on this lesser-known complication of twin pregnancies. She gave birth to her twins at 31 weeks, following more than 10 weeks in hospital after an emergency procedure related to TTTS.
