President Donald Trump has announced a deal with drugmaker EMD Serono to reduce the cost of a common fertility medication, in an effort to make IVF treatment more affordable. The deal is part of Trump’s wider strategy to reduce the cost of in vitro fertilisation, following an executive order issued earlier this year. EMD Serono’s Gonal-f is among several drugs frequently used by patients undergoing IVF treatments, which can often cost thousands of dollars per cycle. As part of the deal, the drug, along with all of EMD Serono’s other IVF medications, will be available at a discount on TrumpRx, a government website where patients will be able to buy drugs directly from manufacturers. The new site is expected to be operational in 2026.
