A woman from Ballingry, UK, is walking 42 miles in honour of her baby, Oliver Sam Currie, who she tragically lost. Josephine Black is participating in the Miles that Matter challenge to raise funds for The Miscarriage Association. The 31-year-old and her partner Daniel had been trying to conceive for about 10 years, facing multiple fertility issues. They attempted IVF with Josephine’s eggs, but after two unsuccessful rounds, they were advised to try with donor eggs. Josephine’s younger sister Samantha became the donor. Unfortunately, Josephine miscarried at six weeks during the first attempt, but on the second, she became pregnant with Oliver. Sadly, Oliver was born prematurely at 18 weeks and could not survive. Josephine is now preparing for another round of IVF and is also using the walk to keep her BMI below 30. She has so far raised £2,500, exceeding her target of £500.
