A woman working at a K9 fertility clinic in Aberdeen has been sentenced after causing distress and potential harm to a golden retriever named Zara. Unqualified and unsupervised, Coral Abel made multiple attempts to take intravenous blood samples from Zara, spraying blood everywhere in the process. The owner of the facility, Gary Bain, also pleaded guilty to charges and has been disqualified from providing service for animals for five years. The incident has raised concerns about the regulation of fertility clinics for animals, with the Scottish SPCA warning of a rising trend of crime groups opening such clinics to launder illegal proceeds through a legitimate business. The lack of cleanliness in the clinic also poses potential risks of disease and bacterial infection.
